Apart from their beauty and lovely scent, water lilies provide much needed shade not only for fish and their spawn but help to reduce solar light levels. This reduction in sunlight helps to reduce algae.Please note that lilies are sent out bareroot.
With the exception of some sedges and rushes, plants in this category will grow and thrive at depths greater than the marginals. In ponds without lilies to provide shade, deeper water plants provide a good alternative and will tolerate partial shade and some splashing.
